‘Mountain’ is taken from Van Plating’s debut, self-titled LP, which will be self-released on November 15th. It’s a song that has Rachel Plating duetting with her writing partner Bradley Walden, as they explore the nature of a committed love – and that includes the hardships that can occur, and that require a mutuality to overcome. So, not just boy meets girl to spoon by the light of the moon. In June. Rachel Plating clearly feels a need to move to the serious side, which certainly comes out of her more recent experiences: having taken a nine year break from her musical pursuits in which she started her family – and also experienced the pain of two miscarriages and a harrowing experience of having to say goodbye to her four children prior to an extremely risky surgery.

As part of their “5 Songs You Need to Hear” column, Wide Open Country Has this to say about Blank’s “Don’t Think Twice”:
Dutch singer-songwriter Judy Blank sings a tender lullaby to anxious hearts on the sweet, gently rolling acoustic number “Don’t Think Twice.” The song is from Blank’s album Morning After, which will be released in the U.S. this Friday (Nov. 1).
Mercy Bell is a millennial; a queer Filipino-American singer and her new self-titled album features a melange that feels appropriate to the Solange-meets-instagram-influencer photo cover. These ten songs cover a lot of ground both musically and thematically. The range of Bell’s vocal tone is impressive- she croons, she growls, she swaggers and twangs, she shouts and yet each song gets the styling it deserves and the album feels cohesive. She has cited her love of pop songwriting in the past and she takes the lessons of hooky melodic pop and applies them to country with beautiful instrumentation on strings and compelling vocal harmonies.
